 John Krause knew he had found the perfect place to call home from the moment he first experienced the beauty of Brevard and its surrounding communities. John has seen many amazing sights on his past journeys around the globe, but when he came to Brevard six years ago for his first close look, he knew this was it. “It was paradise found,” he says. From the awe-inspiring mountain views to the many pristine waterfalls to the abundance of art, culture and activities that the area offers, it’s easy to see why most people who live here feel the same way John does. “It’s a small slice of paradise,” he explains. “It’s an escape from the ordinary.”
Anything But Ordinary
Those who know John well can attest that this dynamic individual is anything but ordinary as well. Born and raised in Phoenix, John was instilled with a multicultural perspective from a young age. His father, working with the local Heard Museum, would take John on digs to survey and collect samples from a number of archeological sites of the ancient Hohokam tribes. John and his family would venture into Mexico to hunt and fish and explore, and to experience the rich Mexican culture.
John’s passion to explore the world and experience other foreign cultures fueled his desire to earn a degree in finance from the University of Colorado. Shortly after, he earned an MBA in international business from the prestigious Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. This helped pave the way for a fascinating career in International Business, culminating in a position as International Controller of Armour-Dial (now the Dial Corporation). In this position, he traveled frequently to the British Isles, Europe, South Africa and throughout Latin America, along the way acquiring a strong interest in Latin American culture. After much success in corporate America, John took over a family publishing and advertising business and restored it to profitability. His brother then encouraged him to get into real estate and for more than three decades, he’s never looked back.
